A relaxing afternoon out on the Blue Ridge Parkway is something Melissa and I enjoy. A chance to explore, relax, get away from the office and shoot a few photographs. It is amazing how we can go to the same locations and come back with a very different set of images – but that will be the topic of another post. This post is a look at the same location changing seasons from Summer to Autumn.
In September we drove through the Boone, NC area after a few days in the Tennessee Mountains and spent an afternoon on the Parkway. There are a series of images from that trip here on the blog. Recently I was up in Boone, this time to help a buddy celebrate his upcoming wedding. Melissa drove up to join me for an afternoon and then the drive home. Oh, a visit at the quilt store in Boone was also on her agenda, but that isn’t surprising if you know her 😉
It was only six weeks between these two photos but the changing seasons gave a very different look. The location is just a few miles North of the NC 321/231 interchange near Blowing Rock, NC. If headed northbound, the turnout is on the right. The views across the valley are amazing from the turnout. Across the road from the turnout, the NC Mountains to Sea Trail parallels the Parkway and heads into a meadow southbound.
It is always amazing how a few weeks can change a location. The feel is totally different, even the color of the sky has mellowed.
