You can spot the frequent flyers on the plane by watching them mouth the words to the safety video. It is one of the dangers of flying, you sit through so many safety briefings that you become numb. Over the past few years the airlines have been trying to keep passengers attention by adding in humor. Southwest started this trend with their free-form live safety briefings and others have followed. Air New Zealand has put out some creative videos too – links to the Air New Zealand Videos are in the post linked at the end. The most recent offering is the new Delta 80’s Safety Video. The entire Delta 80’s Safety Video is an homage to the 80’s and should keep your attention if you are sitting through it on the plane.
As someone who remembers the 80’s vividly, the cultural references are very funny. In almost every scene you will find something from that decade. I caught myself laughing out loud several times while watching this. It may take one or two viewings to catch all of them. From the big-hair (guys included), to the leg warmers and many other cultural icons of the decade, you will enjoy this – I won’t reveal anymore, enjoy the surprise.
So, let’s hear it for the 80’s! A decade, that if you lived through it, you can’t forget the music or the culture. Sorry to those born too late to have experienced the decade in person, it was a fun one. Delta 80’s Safety Video
